Lancashire Farm Education Centre

Lancashire Farm Education Centre offers schools the opportunity to learn curriculum based topics on a working farm.

Our final holiday club for this summer and it was a calf day. We moved big calves outside to the field and then moved the smaller ones into big pens. After that we checked which cows we had put where and recorded their numbers. We had a good look at the robots and saw a cow give 20l in one go. We then cleaned out the calf pens that we had emptied and had so much fun with the pressure washer and new brushes. We worked hard and definitely ready for lunch. After lunch we played lots of new games in the woods as a reward for all of our hard work in the morning. Enjoy the rest of your holidays everyone. 😀 ... See MoreSee Less

James and his team filled the salt licks whilst I showed the people that haven't been before the milking robots. We then had the job of moving the pregnant cows into a new field for some fresh grass. We also checked that they were ok. All looked healthy and well. We then came back through the field and saw the diggers at work. We even managed to find a lucky 4 leaf clover in the field. We then had to get our fire pit ready for cooking on after lunch. Back to the farm for lunch. We then made our butter from cream and a little bit of salt ready for with our bread. And then into the woods to whittle sticks to wrap our bread around and cook the bread. Followed by the best task of adding our butter and eating it! Some children said it was the best bread and butter ever! We only had time for a couple of games before home. Phew another busy day. ... See MoreSee Less
